Speaker: Professor Stewart Williams

Centre Director, Welding and Additive Manufacturing Centre, Cranfield University.

Founder and Technical Director WAAM3D.

Professor Williams has been researching into material processing for manufacturing applications for more than 30 years. Initially through an SME supplying laser systems, then for nearly 20 years at BAE Systems and for the last 15 years, at Cranfield University where he is Director of the Welding and Additive Manufacturing Centre. His main research activities are large-scale wire based direct energy deposition additive manufacture and laser processing. He is director of the WAAMMat industrial collaboration programme, which has been maturing WAAM technology for 12 years He is Technical Director and Co-Founder of WAAM3D, a company set up to commercialise and supply WAAM technology to industry
